Helen Blackmore is a native Dubliner. She is a proud member of the Early Years and Primary Certificate teams with the BKA and is passionate about teaching and sharing music in a musical way through singing, listening, movement and engaging with repertoire.

Helen read music at Trinity College, Dublin and studied singing and piano at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama and the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She holds a research masters in music education in Ireland from Trinity College, Dublin. Helen has completed Professional Certification in Musicianship and Pedagogy from the British Kodály Academy.

At TU Dublin Conservatoire, she teaches Early Years Music, musicianship and undergraduate Aural Skills. Helen provides training for generalist and music specialist Early Years practitioners through webinars and in-person courses as well as providing training for professional music teachers, such as the staff of Limerick School of Music. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, Helen created a series of music videos and live-streams aimed at young children and their grown-ups through the National Concert Hall, Dublin. In 2022, she is looking forward to working with the North-East Inner-City Committee in Dublin to support early years practitioners in using music in their settings.
