There's always a mixture of nerves and excitement around the start of a Summer School, as the 'old hands' meet with the first-timers and everyone starts to settle in together. This year, after a brief meet-the-Tutor and a beautiful sing led by James Cuskelly, our Delegates dived straight in to Methodology sessions.

This year, we are running our in-person modules of our Certificate courses- Foundation, Early Years 2, Primary 3 and Secondary 3. The first sessions saw Delegates getting stuck into the learning, playing games and analysing the methods and teaching tools used.

Next up, was a choice between Conducting, Vocal Technique or Singing Games. And then the day finished with the first session of Musicianship- just the remedy for flummoxed brains!

After a lovely tea- the food is top-notch here- Delegates joined together for singing games with Lucinda Geoghegan and James Cuskelly- a double-act if ever we saw one! There was much laughter, go-lefts instead of go-rights, and plenty of chances to get to know the people we're going to be spending the next week with!

The evening rounded off with the presentation of the CVMS Scholarship awards to Danni Brace, Georgia Love and Cressida McKay-Frith. They were presented with Cecilia Vajda's books, after a short presentation from Alan Murdock, who was one of Cecilia's pupils.

Tomorrow will be our first full day, check back later to find out what goes on!
